  • Dance to Stay Young Program | Mondays
    Dance to Stay Young Program at Goodwood Community Centre

    When:  Every Monday from 1.30pm-2.30pm

    Where:  Banquet Hall, Goodwood Community Centre, Rosa St, Goodwood

    Activity details: You don’t stop dancing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop dancing!  Dancing is a great way to keep active and socialise with others. This program is suitable for individuals and groups. Participants are encouraged to bring their own music for a freestyle dance segment.

  • No Lights No Lycra, Goodwood | Thursdays
    No Lights No Lycra, Goodwood

    When: Thursdays, 7:15pm for 7:30pm start (60 mins)

    Where: Goodwood Community Centre, Rosa Street, Goodwood

    Activity details: No Lights No Lycra is a weekly lights-off chance to dance in the dark for the pure joy of dancing. It’s a place to shake out the stresses of the week, let go of your inhibitions and completely be yourself. We're part of a global community providing an inclusive and non-judgmental space to move.  Car parking and toilets available.  All ages and fitness levels welcome and lycra is totally ok!  

    Cost: $7 per session

    Come and Try fitness session with Mums Exercise Group Australia


    When: 10.30am Fridays. Starting 29 September until 1 December
    Where:  Life Church Glen Osmond, 312 Glen Osmond Rd, Myrtle Bank

    Activity details: Calling all mums! Get back into fitness with other like-minded ladies. FREE weekly mum's circuit/bootcamp session at Life Church Glen Osmond run by a qualified personal trainer (and mother of two!). All fitness levels catered for and children under 18yrs welcome!

    Mums Exercise Group Australia (MEGA) is a social enterprise empowering mothers and helping them to improve their social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
    MEGA aims to ensure that no mother is isolated from the community and that every woman is empowered to look after their health and wellbeing. Through very low-cost fitness and wellbeing training options, and sponsored memberships for women facing hardship, MEGA aims to give every mother in Australia access to fitness and wellbeing classes that will improve their health and provide the resilience and support they need to thrive in life.
    MEGA is a community free from judgement or negativity; we believe a supportive community can help every woman feel good about themselves.

  • Goodwood Walking Group | commencing 3 October
    Goodwood Walking Group – hosted by Unley Physiotherapy

    When: every Tuesday from 9.30 – 10.30am, commencing Tuesday 3 October

    Where: Walks depart from Unley Physiotherapy, 309 Goodwood Road, Kings Park.

    Activity details:  This is a new walking group, departing from our Goodwood Road, Kings Park practice. The walking group aims to provide exercise in a group environment to benefit from group motivation and socialisation. Everyone is welcome, regardless of your ability or fitness level.
    We also have an established Walking Group departing from Unley Physiotherapy located at 160 Unley Rd, Unley.

  • Nordic Walking “Come and Try” Session | Various Dates
    Nordic Walking “Come and Try” Session

    When: Wednesday 11.30am - 12.20pm (approx.50 mins) on the following dates:
    11 October 2017
    14 February 2018
    18 April 2018
    27 June 2018

    Where:  Fullarton Park Community Centre

    Activity Details: Nordic Walking is a form of fitness walking using specially designed poles and a learned technique to produce a low impact, high results, total body workout. Nordic Walking is for everyone regardless of age, fitness level or chronic conditions.

    The session aims to provide an understanding of the benefits of Nordic Walking and an opportunity to experiencing the feel and potential applications of the poles.

    All welcome. Limit 12 people per class.

  • Outdoor Group Fitness Session for Parents (kids welcome!)
    Outdoor Group Fitness Session for Parents (kids welcome!)

    When: Tuesdays 9.15-10am
    Where: Unley Oval (meet at the shelter, off Langham Terrace) 
    Activity details: Outdoor group fitness session with Sarah Kuss of Fitness Boutique by Sarah (located on Unley Road). Pre-schoolers are welcome.  Bring a mat and drink bottle, snacks and hats for the kids. Profits raised go to Unley Primary School to improve outdoor play spaces. These sessions will go for 9 weeks until the last Tuesday of Term 4.

  • Be Yoga at the Park | During School Terms
    Be Yoga at the Park

    When: Friday mornings  9.30-10.30am during school terms (Term 4: 20 October - 15 December 2017. Term 1:  1 February - 13 April 2017) 

    Where: Heywood Park, Unley Park (western side, in from the carpark)

    Activity details: Under a beautiful gum tree and the filtered sun, enjoy 1 hour of Gentle Flow Outdoor Yoga Class. Gentle movement and stretching to release your body. Bring a mat if you have one, children welcome to play close by.

  • 'Roll and Recover' Workshop for Runners | 21 October
    'Roll and Recover' Workshop for Runners – Hosted by Kinfolk Physiotherapy & Wellness

    When: Sunday 21 October, 3.15 – 4.15pm

    Where: Fullarton Park Community Centre, Parkview Room, Corner Fisher Street and Fullarton Road, Fullarton.

    Activity details: Learn how to use a foam roller to optimise recovery, maintain flexibility and decrease the risk of injury. Limited to 12 participants. Workshop is for runners of all abilities.

    Activity details: Fern Avenue Community Garden Open Day invites you to enjoy our beautiful garden. Listen to a Caring Choir performance, purchase Wood Oven pizzas made within the garden, enjoy refreshing drinks from a lemonade stall, participate in free children’s nature activities, learn about the importance of bees and purchase plants and produce.

  • Come and Try Men’s Pilates | 6 November
    Come and Try Men’s Pilates – hosted by Physio Pilates Proactive

    When: Monday 6 November,  6.45-7.45pm

    Where: Physio Pilates Proactive, 86 Glen Osmond Rd, Parkside

    Activity details: Want to be more flexible and improve your core? Pilates is a great way of stretching out tight muscles, mobilizing stiff joints and strengthening your abdominals. If you sit at a desk all day, play sport or just want to improve your posture, come and try a Pilates mat class. Taught in a non-threatening manner for complete Beginners, you can see what all the women have been talking about! And by the way, the Crows and Port football players do Pilates! This class is strictly for men only and is for any fitness level

  • Pilates in the Park | 13 January
    Pilates in the Park – hosted by Physio Pilates Proactive

    When: Saturday 13 January, 8.30-9.30am

    Activity details:  Can you think of a more idyllic Pilates class, set in a leafy park setting, before the heat of a summer’s day starts? Taught by PPP’s Director and Principal Physiotherapist, Rachel Combe, we invite you to Come and Try Pilates Mat. We’ll provided the mats and equipment; you just need to show up! Even if yyou have done Pilates before and would like to enjoy the novelty of doing a class outside, please join Rachel for a relaxing, stretchy 60 minute class. Participants can be of any fitness level.

21 Things to do in Unley

Need some inspiration? Here’s a list of 21 things to do in the City of Unley.


See what’s growing in the edible orchards at Morrie Harrell Reserve, Ramage Street, Unley, and Fullarton Park, Fisher Street, Fullarton. 

Slide, jump, roll and play on lots of fun equipment at the Katherine Street playground, Fullarton. Rocks, logs, sensory planting, and a sandpit provide an area where the kids can interact with nature.

Ride the mini trains at SASMEE Park, Millswood Crescent, Millswood, operating on the 1st Saturday and 3rd Sunday of every month.

Let’s go fly a kite! The open space areas at Ridge Park or Orphanage Park are perfect locations.

Pick up some fresh produce from the Adelaide Showgrounds Farmers Market, held every Sunday on Leader Street, Goodwood.

Enjoy the change of seasons by sitting on a bench at Heywood Park and watching the world go by. Can you hear the kookaburras?

Ride the Mike Turtur Bikeway from the Black Forest to the Wayville Showgrounds.

Packed full of play equipment, the Princess Margaret Playground at Black Forest is a hidden gem. The kids will love it, trust us!

Unley Road offers 1.5km’s of shopping activity. Why not start at one end in the morning, have lunch and then wander back down the other side in the afternoon.

Check out our new Book Nooks! They are little boxes full of books for you to borrow, read, replace and enjoy. There are 4 nooks located around the Council area: Leicester Street Playground, Parkside; Fern Avenue Reserve, Fullarton; Heywood Park, Unley Park and at Clarence Park Community Centre.

We now have two outdoor ping pong tables! Check them out at the Unley Civic Centre, Oxford Terrace, Unley, and Fullarton Park Community Centre, Fullarton Road, Fullarton.

Walk the Discover Historic Unley trail and pop in at the Unley Museum, 80 Edmund Avenue, Unley, to discover more about your neighbourhood.

See what you can find at Ridge Park, Myrtle Bank. Do you know how much water the dam can hold? Can you find the 250 year old ‘Eucalyptus microcarpa’ tree, or the giant lizards at the playground? 

Visit one of Australia’s oldest hockey clubs, Forestville Hockey Club at Goodwood Oval.

Man’s best friend needs some exercise too! Take your dog to one of our great parks. More details regarding off-leash times can be found on our Dog Exercise Area page.  

Search for a good book at Unley Library and enjoy it at the Village Green, Rugby Street, Unley.

The City of Unley has so many places for kids to explore. Orphanage Park is one great example, where you can build a cubby house, catch tadpoles and make some mud pies!

Try out one of the many activities, workshops and programs held across our diverse Community Centres.

Walk Windsor Street trail from Fern Avenue Reserve to Unley Road and observe the native plants along the way.

Climb the stairs of grandstand at Goodwood Oval and enjoy the view.

Open the lid to discover what’s inside the ‘Toy Boxes’, at Ridge Park, Village Green, Soutar Park and Forestville Reserve.

  • Council can provide a limited amount of funding and promotional support to enable you to host an activity (or activities) and promote your organisation
