Coffee lovers of Adelaide, here is the news you have been waiting for!

The Double Shot Coffee Fiesta will return on Sunday 5 November 2017.

The event will once again incorporate the Australian Specialty Coffee Association Western Region State Barista Championships and promises to return with a bang after an 18 month hiatus.

Festival of Mud 2017

The City of Unley in association with Nature Play SA bring you the 2017 Festival of Mud.
We have had an amazing response from the community for the Festival of Mud. We are grateful for this but have reached capacity for attendance. For the safety and enjoyment of registered attendees, we are no longer accepting registrations.

100% of money raised from gold coin donations will support the international non-profit organisation Playground Ideas.

Playground Ideas is an international not-for-profit community development organisation that offers free support for communities world-wide, including those in lower income countries, to design and build playgrounds using local skills, tools, and materials. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

  • Why can I no longer register for this event?

    We have had an amazing response from the community for the Festival of Mud. We are grateful for this but we have reached capacity for attendance. For the safety and enjoyment of registered attendees, we are no longer accepting registrations.

  • I have previously registered my attendance, what happens next?

    Please note THIS EVENT IS AT CAPACITY and unfortunately no more registrations can be accepted.

    If you have registered, you are welcome to attend the Festival anytime between 10am and 3pm. Please be patient gaining entry as the event is at maximum attendance.

    A gold coin donation will be requested upon entry. 100% of money raised will support the international non-profit organisation Playground Ideas.

  • Do I need to arrive at 10am sharp?

    No, you are welcome to attend the Festival any time between 10am and 3pm. Please note entry will not be allowed before 10am.

  • Is there a limit on numbers attending?

    For the safety and enjoyment of both you and your children, event staff will constantly monitor crowd numbers.

    As event site capacity is limited, there may a requirement to delay entry temporarily, to ensure the event does not become over-crowded.

  • What facilities are available for young families?

    To help young families enjoy the day, we have two large picnic areas. A private change room and a private breast-feeding room will also be available. 

  • Will food and refreshments be available?

    You are welcome to BYO picnic or make a purchase from one of the delicious and wholesome food and coffee trucks on site. Food options include fruit iceblocks, baked potatoes and Italian street food.

  • Can I bring something to sit on?

    Festivalgoers are welcome to bring a picnic blanket or low-lying chairs.

  • Where can I park?

    If you are planning to drive to the event, please allow plenty of time to find a park.

    An internal carpark (approx. 75 spaces) will be available inside Orphanage Park. Traffic coordinators at the entrance will advise when it is full or when spaces are available.

    Ample parking is available in nearby streets; please take note of parking signage.

    If you live nearby, we encourage you to walk to the festival.

  • Is there somewhere to clean up?

    Wash stations will be set up next to the mud pits for children who want to wash off the mud. We encourage you to bring the children a change of clothing. 

  • Child Safety Information

    Parents are expected to supervise their children at all times. Please note that the Festival area is partially fenced.

    All children will be wrist banded at the entry points with contact details of their parent/guardian/caregiver.

Unley Kid's Eye View Instagram Competition

See Unley through the unique perspective of children!

Unley is renowned for its community spirit, natural and built environment and thriving arts and culture. The Kid’s Eye View competition offers an exciting and creative opportunity for young people aged 12 years and under to capture inspiring and creative images of the City of Unley from their point of view. The competition will run in three categories:

  1. most creative
  2. most Kid’s Eye View, and
  3. most Unley.

Winners of each category can enjoy an inspiration Instax Polaroid camera pack valued at $119.

The competition will run for the duration of the April school holidays from April 14 to April 30.

Please note the City of Unley supports both Facebook and Instagram’s policy of only allowing young people over the age of 13 to register for Facebook and Instagram, therefore, entries from parent, guardian, or caregivers accounts will be accepted.


  • How Kids Can Enter
    1. Take a photo of a person, place, or object in the City of Unley from a Kid’s Eye View perspective between 14 - 30 April
    2. Ask your parent or guardian to like “City of Unley” on Facebook and/or follow “City of Unley” on Instagram
    3.  Ask your parent or guardian to upload your photo to their Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #UnleyKidsEyeView (privacy settings must be set to ‘public’ for the City of Unley to view the photo)

  • Competition Terms & Conditions
    1. The Promoter is the City of Unley, 181 Unley Road, Unley SA 5061.
    2. Entry to this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Conditions of Entry by each entrant.


    1. Employees and children of employees of the City of Unley and their immediate families, and agencies associated with the promotion are ineligible to enter.
    2. Entry is only open to residents of South Australia who are twelve years (12) or younger at the time of the competition, with the assistance of their parent/guardian to enter.
    3. The photo taker and their parent/guardian must live in South Australia.
    4. The photo must be original and taken by the child entrant in the suburbs of the City of Unley.
    5. Only photos submitted between 9am Friday 14  April 2017, and 5pm, Sunday 30 April 2017 using the exact tag #UnleyKidsEyeView will be accepted.
    6. Entries received after the closure date/time will not be eligible.

    How to Enter

    1. To enter the Competition, the child entrant must capture and upload their own unique photograph of Unley during the period Friday 14  April 2017 to Sunday 30 April 2017, and their parent/guardian upload the photo via their Instagram or Facebook account with the hashtag #UnleyKidsEyeView.
    2. Each photo may only be submitted once into the competition.
    3. Only photos submitted via the Instagram or Facebook app with the hashtag #UnleyKidsEyeView will be considered.
    4. Images must meet the following criteria:
      • The photo must show a part of the City of Unley of interest to the young person;
      • The photo must be original and entries deemed to not belong to or not be taken by the user will not be eligible;
      • If the photo contains a person or people, that person or people must have consented to their image being taken for the purposes of the competition;
      • The photo must be taken within the City of Unley area as bounded by Greenhill Road, Glen Osmond Road, Cross Road, South Road, and Anzac Highway.
    5. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions will be accepted at the Promoter’s discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. Incomplete or indecipherable entries will be deemed invalid.  
    6. The Entrant entrant and parent/guardian acknowledges and agrees that his or her Entry will not be obscene, defamatory, libellous, threatening, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encouraging of conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, gives rise to civil liability, or violate any law.
    7. The Entrant confirms and warrants that they have full power and authority to enter into this agreement and hereby indemnifies the Promoter from and against any and all costs and damages incurred as a result of any breach of these Terms and Conditions.
    8. The promotional period commences at 9:00am SA time on 14 April 2017 and closes at 11:59 pm SA time on 30 April 2017.

    Personal Information

    1. By entering the competition and accepting the terms and conditions, the entrant and parent/guardian accept that the Promoter may use their personal details for the purpose of conducting the competition, including the use of your Promoter name in promotional formats.
    2. By entering the competition, parent/guardian gives the Promoter permission to contact them via Instagram if they are the winner of the competition.
    3. By entering the Competition, each parent/guardian agrees to receive emails from

If entrants and the parent/guardian do not wish to be bound by the Competition terms and conditions or participate in the competition they must email and advise that they do not wish to participate. Failure to notify the Promoter by email will be deemed acceptance of the terms and conditions.


    1. The judging panel will select the winner of each category from the top 50 most liked photos, and the panel’s decision is final and may not be appealed. The 3 person judging panel will be selected from:
      • City of Unley Elected Members
      • City of Unley Community Development staff members
    2. Judging will take place the week after the competition closes.


    1. One prize pack will be offered to each of the three winning entries in the following categories that  also meet all terms and conditions:
      • “Most Kids Eye View”
      • “Most Creative”
      • “Most Unley”
    2. Winners will be selected during the working week following the end of the competition (or at such other time as the Promoter determines) and at the City of Unley, 181 Unley Road, Unley SA. (A working day is any day that is not a Saturday or Sunday or a public holiday in South Australia under the Holidays Act 1910). 
    3. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    4. Once the judges’ decision has been made, the winners will be notified by @cityofunley on Instagram or Facebook via a comment on the winning image or message to the account.
    5. The winner's parent/guardian must make contact with the Promoter via email at to make arrangements to claim their prize. Winners must provide their full name, postal address or their current mobile telephone number and email address. Prizes must be claimed within two weeks of being notified.
    6. The promoter shall endeavour to contact the winner's parent/guardian via their Instagram account within one week of the prize draw. In the event that the winner cannot be contacted after two weeks, an alternate winner will be selected on the basis of the criteria specified and the original winner will forfeit any prize.
    7. The prizes remain the property of the Promoter until claimed by the prize winners.
    8. The prize is valued in Australian Dollars (AUD).
    9. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
    10. In the event that a prize becomes unavailable due to circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter reserves the right to provide a similar product of the same or greater value as the original prize, subject to any applicable law.
    11. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings.
    12. The Promoter accepts no liability for the prize if lost or damaged in transit.


    1. Subject to parent/guardian consent, he winner consents to the use of their name and photograph in City of Unley promotional materials, documents or articles.


    1. The competition is a game of subjective creativity and the selection of winners is determined by a panel of judges from the top 100 most liked images.
    2. Participation in this competition assumes the acceptance of the Instagram and Facebook legal terms and conditions
    3. All images published on Instagram or Facebook with the #UnleyKidsEyeView hashtag may be moderated, shared and displayed on the City of Unley website and social media channels. These images and associated usernames will be public.
    4. By entering the competition and accepting the terms and conditions the parent/guardian gives the City of Unley permission to use the entrant's submitted image/s and Instagram name in promotional formats via the City of Unley websites, and social media channels and in subsequent promotions with the relevant attribution. Entrants and winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
    5. The Promoter reserves the right to request the winner's parent/guardian to produce proof of identity, proof of age and proof of residency for the entrant at the nominated prize pickup/delivery address. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. If identification required by the Promoter is not received by the Promoter (or its nominated agent) the winner's entry will be deemed invalid. The prizes will only be awarded following any winner validation and verification that the Promoter requires.
    6. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information communicated in the course of, or in connection with, this Competition if the deficiency is occasioned by any cause outside the reasonable control of the Promoter.
