Information for visually impaired customers
The city of Unley is making every effort to ensure that our web site is accessible by visually impaired customers. However, due to certain technological limitations, it is not always possible to make the city of Unley web site entirely accessible without major cost implications. Please note that many of our documents, such as agendas or forms, are displayed as PDF files. A summary of various options available to the user now follows:
Adjusting text sizes
There are ways you can adjust the text size on our web site through the settings of your browser. Modern browsers look at the style sheet regarding text sizes and font selection. Therefore, you need to tell the browser to ignore the use of these elements otherwise it cannot override the layout and font sizes as determined by the page template.
For recent microsoft internet explorer versions 6 and 7 the following process need to be followed:
1. select the tools - internet options menu that will launch a pop up window
2. select the accessibility button and this will launch another pop up window
3. under the heading"formatting" tick the option"ignore font sizes specified on web pages".
Once the browser has been reconfigured, you can alter the text size using two methods.
method 1: The simplest way is to use a mouse with a scroll wheel where you hold down the control (ctrl) key on your keyboard and scroll your mouse wheel.
method 2: If you don't have a mouse with a scroll wheel select the "view" menu in your internet explorer browser and select "text size" then tick the preferred text size option e.g. large or larger.
or
use (alt+v) keys to get the "view' option; choose 'x' for the 'text size' option and then use the the key 'g' for largest text size, key 'l' for larger, key 'm for medium; key 's' for smaller or key 'a' for smallest.
PDF viewers
Many documents such as council agendas, minutes and forms are displayed in pdf format. if you are unable to view pdf documents, it is possible to download and install a free copy of acrobat reader from this adobe website.
