Election results

The Parkside Ward Supplementary election has now been finalised and the final results declared.

Jennifer Bonham is declared elected as the new Councillor for Parkside Ward.

Votes were counted on Wednesday 9 September, and after the distribution of preferences, Jennifer obtained 440 votes.

Congratulations to Jennifer and thank you to all nominated candidates.

Enrolment to vote

Enrolment for the 2020 council supplementary elections for Parkside Ward closed on Tuesday 30 June 2020.

The voters’ roll for council elections consists of two components – the House of Assembly (State) roll, and the council supplementary roll.

If you are on the House of Assembly roll and reside within the Parkside Ward you will automatically receive a voting pack mailed to your registered address.

Candidates

Nominations closed at 12noon on Thursday 6 August 2020. Council received and accepted six nominations for the Parkside Ward Supplementary Election.

In accordance with the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999, ECSA staff conducted a draw to decide the order that candidate names will appear on the ballot paper. The result of the draw:

Voting

Voting in the Parkside Ward Supplementary Election is done by post.
 
If you are on the state (House of Assembly) electoral roll or have completed an enrolment to join the supplementary roll, you would have received a voting pack in the mail. Voting packs were delivered between Tuesday 18 August and Monday 24 August 2020.

Voting closed 12 noon Monday 7 September 2020.

How a Supplementary Election works

Unlike State and Federal elections, it is not compulsory to vote in South Australian council elections and all voting is done by post. Enrolled voters receive a voting package through the mail and return their votes in a reply paid envelope.
