Behavioural Management Policy

Civic Centre Facade

The LGA’s Model Behavioural Management Policy applies to all South Australian councils until each council adopts their own.

A new Behavioural Management Framework for council members commenced on 17 November 2022. This framework is a major component of South Australia’s local government reform.

A key element of this new framework is the Behavioural Management Policy.  It is now mandatory for all councils to prepare and adopt a Behavioural Management Policy in accordance with section 262B of the Local Government Act 1999.

To support this requirement, new Local Government (Transitional Provisions) (Conduct) Amendment Regulations 2022 deem the LGA’s Model Behavioural Management Policy as each council’s Behavioural Management Policy until each council subsequently adopts its own policy.
