Fullarton Park Community Centre

Presented by Mark Le Messurier 2022 SA Senior Australian of the Year

In this workshop I will hand you an imaginary gift. It’s a kaleidoscope and I want you to keep it until you need it. And trust me-you will need it later after you leave. This workshop teaches you a different way to hold your child accountable for their actions. The workshop also is concerned with ‘art’ of applying educative consequence because sometimes, we must draw a line in the sand, and doing this with composure, self-confidence and connection is truly an ‘art’ to be learned.

Monday 29 August, 7 - 8.30pm

Fullarton Park Community Centre, 411 Fullarton Road, Fullarton

Cost: Free, bookings essential.

2022 brings the release of Mark Le Messurier’s latest book, ‘BUILDING SACRED GROUND: Parenting with soft eyes and warm hearts.’  Mark writes –

‘Think of family as an intricate, evolving world. It exists to protect and nourish but the living in it is not always easy. And, when one of us is not doing well, none of us are. This makes family a dynamic, vulnerable, and a beautiful work in progress.  This book centres around those moments when we must get involved, redirect, or call one of our children on an unsafe, careless, or selfish moment. Many see such moments as tiresome or tedious. I adore them because what happens here, does not happen in a vacuum. Such moments reveal what is really happening between parents, between siblings, between parents and children, outside of these moments.

So, let’s explore how we bring our children closer to us in the ’good times’ as well. How we create a desire in them to want to work together and show greater flexibility.'

All of Mark’s session this year will be based around the work in his book and will guide you in developing a humane parenting approach that requires a mindset that connects leadership, composure, strength and kindness.  This book is relates to real life because everything we do as parents occurs with the colour and chaos of life.
