Come in, have a seat, this is where you'll find a good book, hear about a great film, and find some tools to locate that next great read. Keep an eye out as the Lounge is going to expand.

Hot Speed Reads

These are our most popular items.
Hot Speed Reads are a special collection with special conditions of loan:

  • No reservations, if it is on the shelf, you can borrow it.
  • 10 day loan only. Please return on time.
  • One Hot Speed Read per card.

These conditions are in place to ensure a rapid turnover of items so many patrons can read the popular items fast, without having to wait on long reservation queues. However, if you prefer not to borrow the Hot Speed Read edition, for every HSR in the collection there another copy in the catalogue available for normal loan.

Our special collections

We have a number of specialist collections in our Libraries, created to provide for special interests or meet particular needs.

 

Kindle eReaders

The City of Unley Libraries has Kindle eReaders for loan.

Each Kindle is loaded with bestseller titles and comes with a quick start guide to get you reading our ebooks with ease.

You can find a complete list of all the ebooks available on our Kindles on our catalogue.

Available for free on a 28 day loan with a limit of one Kindle per card. Please ask at the Libraries for further information.

 

Active ageing collection

The City of Unley has been recognised by the World Health Organisation as an Age Friendly City and Community and the Libraries continue to be an integral part.

Our new Active Ageing collection brings together diverse subjects of interest, including retirement, health and general wellbeing that can be of interest when tackling the challenges of getting older.

Our catalogue can provide a full list of the collection, or you are welcome to visit Unley Civic Library to peruse the collection yourself. Never hesitate to ask any of our staff for assistance either in the Libraries or over the phone.

Our book club sets

We support a large number of book clubs. if you are looking to start a book club, do please contact us, but if you are just looking for something to read, our list of book club titles might spark some interest. You can not borrow as an individual from the book club collections, but you can find the titles in our main collection and borrow or reserve a copy there.
