Council centres & facilities

Our centre staff are excited to reopen their doors to the community as COVID-19 restrictions are further eased. When you visit, you will see our centres are complying to State Government COVID Safe-Plan requirements.

Though it may take some time to return to previous levels of service, please be patient as we prioritise the health and safety of our patrons, hirers and staff.

Please note, the Management Committee of the Goodwood Community Centre is working toward reopening to deliver safe activities in their centre. For updates, visit the Goodwood Community Service Inc Facebook page and website.

The following access changes to other Council facilities remain in place until further notice:

  • Unley Museum closed
  • Community Bus Service discontinued for the foreseeable future
  • Town Hall Hire – no new bookings will be taken for the Town Hall.

Unley Swimming Centre

The Unley Swimming Centre will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 swimming season. This decision has been made following the State’s COVID-19 update on Friday 8 May and after undertaking our own due diligence.

The health, wellbeing and safety of our customers and employees remained a key priority but other factors considered were:

  • The time in relation to our scheduled close date of 24 May 2020 it would take to return the water to safe compliance levels (This includes re-heating the water).
  • Extended costs and implications on plant and equipment for re-opening during the month of May.
  • Lack of efficiency presented by the restrictions in regard to allowable patron access in conjunction with the mandatory on-site staffing requirements.
  • Works currently being undertaken onsite at the facility for the new shade structure.

2020-21 Season

The City of Unley remains fully committed to re-opening the facility for the 2020-21 swimming season in September.

Multi-Visits Passes

Unused visits as off 24 May 2020 will be credited to next season and valid to a date determined by the number of days of lost service this season.

Season Passes

As above, current season passes to remain valid until a date determined by the number of days lost service this season. After this date new passes can be purchased for the remainder of the season at a pre-determined price based on the percentage of the season remaining.

Council-run programs & events

Following government advice on mass gatherings and social distancing, we have made the decision to defer Council-run programs, events and activities to ensure we are not inadvertently compromising the health of our community.

Playgrounds & exercise equipment

Following advice from the Chief Public Health Officer on 5 May, all playgrounds have been safety-checked and reopened.

Please ensure you apply social distancing requirements and hygiene practices while using playgrounds.
