Former City of Unley Mayor, Denis A.D. Sheridan, sadly passed away on 24 May after a long battle with cancer.

In recognition, flags at the Unley Civic Centre are being flown at half-mast on Thursday 3 June.

At the time elected, Denis Sheridan was one of the younger Mayors of the City of Unley.

Elected to Council in 1976, he served as Mayor from 1982 - 1985.

In addition to his wide range of civic activities, Mr Sheridan was a Vice-President of the Sturt Football Club, a foundation member of the successful 5AA Big Band formed in 1971 and a lead singer and compere.

Well remembered for his charisma and community spirit, a key achievement during his term as Mayor was spearheading the original upgrade of King William Road. Mr. Sheridan was integral to the project, bringing together the various stakeholders, and ultimately creating a precinct that is renowned for its community feel and village atmosphere.
