The Premier's Certificates are awarded every year to those volunteers who exceed expectations and go 'above and beyond'. On Monday 5 September, Mayor Michael Hewitson presented a number of them with certificates of recognition. The reasons they won their awards are described here by their Unley leaders.

Marion Martin

‘Marion has been a volunteer with Unley Libraries ‘Read and Reflect’ program since it began in 2018. Marion puts careful thought and consideration into program preparation, adapting her sessions to include music and audio books. Without her generosity and commitment, this would not be the successful program it is today. We’re so grateful to Marion for the work and time she has committed in volunteering in this role’.

Nominated by Jaclyn Edlington, Team Leader Literacy & Learning

Alan Roy

‘Alan joined Fullarton Park Community Centre’s volunteer team in 2012 as our maintenance person. He has become an integral part of our team and is always seeking solutions to problems. Alan looks after the park’s plants, cleans courtyards and pathways, and works with Depot staff ensuring everything is cared for. Alan’s impact on our Centre is enormous. He always does his work with a smile and has the Centre’s - and our community’s - best interests at heart’.

Nominated by Pam Dale, Coordinator FPCC

Di Duke

‘Di has been a regular with Unley since 2008, volunteering in many areas of the library including its Home Library Service, delivering books to housebound people. She has run a book group and volunteered at Fullarton Park Library in the Readers’ Advisory area. Di’s knowledge of genres helps her request books for readers. This service is appreciated by our customers and has a big impact on their lives, reducing isolation and building confidence. Di is a delight to have around’.

Nominated by Cortesse Razon and Kelly Jackson, Home Library Coordinators

Community Transport Team – 9 volunteers

'Unley’s Community Transport Volunteers are an amazing team of dedicated drivers who always go beyond expectations to support the needs of older citizens.  When services were impacted by COVID, this team provide crucial transport for clients to get to essential medical appointments, taking on extra responsibilities to ensure the program continued.  We receive positive feedback daily for this team. Their commitment and dedication is invaluable'.

Nominated by Moira Heppenstall, Community Transport Coordinator

These people were recent recipients of the Premier’s Certificates of Recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service - all were presented with certificates this week.
