SALA 2022 alive in Unley
Published on 03 August 2022
The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival - the largest open-access festival for visual artists in the world - is up and running in Unley!
This is the 16th year of the City of Unley’s association with the festival, which exhibits the work of 12,000 artists in 550 venues across our state.
Our Council’s involvement offers over 30 venues, which are displaying the work of 100 or more artists - in a variety of mediums. Unley’s artistic community has demonstrated a commitment to this festival, and our response to SALA continues to be one the largest in any metropolitan area.
Apart from those which Council actively supports, there are a number of additional art spaces affiliated with the various main-street traders’ associations where artists are showing their work.
You can experience SALA in Unley via a map which is available online as an app. This app is similar to the main SALA guide, but with additional information. The app can be downloaded from izi.TRAVEL.
Walk around and locate some of the venues. You’ll find 15 artworks in the Unley Inner Art Gallery by artists exhibiting in SALA in Unley.
You’ll also see SALA promotion on our main street bins, showing artworks from past awards.
The City of Unley is having its involvement acknowledged at state-wide SALA launches and in local artist Rosie Field’s exhibition opening at the Hughes Gallery on Friday evening 5 August.
You can find more local SALA information On Council’s website.
