  • Yoga for Body and Soul | Saturday 24 March
    Yoga for Body and Soul, at Yogita Yoga, Highgate

    When: Saturday 24 March, 3.30-5pm

    Where: Yogita Yoga, 435 Fullarton Road, Highgate

    Activity details: Enjoy an introduction to the benefits of yoga and meditation that includes gentle stretches and easy strengthening yoga postures, as well as a guided relaxation and meditation at the end.

    Complimentary refreshments will be available after the class.

  • Come & Try Croquet at Hyde Park Croquet Club | Sunday 25 March
    Come & Try Croquet

    When: 4pm start, Sunday 25 March

    Where: Hyde Park Croquet Club, 8 Northgate St, Unley Park

    Activity details: Croquet may be that activity that fits your lifestyle and you have been looking for!

    Come and take part in a game of croquet in a group of 4 with an experienced instructor. Casual dress, flat soled shoes. Equipment provided. Finishing at approximately 6pm, to be followed by a sausage sizzle with bar facilities available.

  • Boutique Fitness Sessions at the Roxy Centre

    Boutique Fitness Sessions at the Roxy Centre

    When:  Ongoing. Session dates and times available online

    Where: Roxy Centre, 1/80-86 Anzac Hwy, Everard Park

    Activity details: Various activities on offer for mums and dads, teens and tweens, including zumba, barre, yoga, pilates and more!

  • Tummy Time Pilates | Wednesdays during School Term
    Tummy Time Pilates at Goodwood Community Centre
    When: Every Wednesday during school terms. 9:30am General/Pregnancy, 10.30am Mums and Bubs. Classes run for 45 minutes. 

    Where: Goodwood Community Centre, 32/34 Rosa St, Goodwood

    Activity details: All welcome. Recommended for Mums, Bubs and Bumps! Our new General class is open to all ages and abilities and suitable for pregnant clients. No class limit currently but usual size is 6-10 participants. 

    Cost: $15/casual class or $80/6 classes with free Pilates band included

  • Come & Try Croquet at Millswood Croquet Club | Sunday 15 April
    Come & Try Croquet

    When: Sunday 15 April, 2 – 4pm

    Where: Millswood Croquet Club, 18C Millswood Crescent, Millswood

    Activity details: Come and try croquet at Millswood Croquet Club with an experienced instructor. Casual dress and flat soled shoes required. Equipment and refreshments provided.  All welcome, however best recommended for ages 15+.

  • Nordic Walking “Come and Try” Session | Wednesday 18 April & 27 June
    Nordic Walking “Come and Try” Session

    When: Wednesday 11.30am - 12.20pm (approx.50 mins) on the following dates:
    18 April 2018
    27 June 2018

    Where:  Fullarton Park Community Centre

    Activity Details: Nordic Walking is a form of fitness walking using specially designed poles and a learned technique to produce a low impact, high results, total body workout. Nordic Walking is for everyone regardless of age, fitness level or chronic conditions.

    The session aims to provide an understanding of the benefits of Nordic Walking and an opportunity to experiencing the feel and potential applications of the poles.

    All welcome. Limit 12 people per class.

  • Dance to Stay Young Program | Mondays
    Dance to Stay Young Program at Goodwood Community Centre

    When:  Every Monday, 1.30-2.30pm

    Where:  Banquet Hall, Goodwood Community Centre, Rosa St, Goodwood

    Activity details: You don’t stop dancing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop dancing!  Dancing is a great way to keep active and socialise with others. This program is suitable for individuals and groups. Participants are encouraged to bring their own music for a freestyle dance segment.

  • No Lights No Lycra, Goodwood | Thursdays
    No Lights No Lycra, Goodwood

    When: Thursdays, 7.15pm for 7.30pm start (60 mins)

    Where: Goodwood Community Centre, Rosa Street, Goodwood

    Activity details: No Lights No Lycra is a weekly lights-off chance to dance in the dark for the pure joy of dancing. It’s a place to shake out the stresses of the week, let go of your inhibitions and completely be yourself. We're part of a global community providing an inclusive and non-judgmental space to move.  Car parking and toilets available.  All ages and fitness levels welcome and lycra is totally ok!  

    Cost: $7 per session

  • Goodwood Walking Group | Tuesdays
    Goodwood Walking Group – hosted by Unley Physiotherapy

    When: every Tuesday, 9.30 – 10.30am

    Where: Walks depart from Unley Physiotherapy, 309 Goodwood Road, Kings Park

    Activity details:  This is a new walking group, departing from our Goodwood Road, Kings Park practice. The walking group aims to provide exercise in a group environment to benefit from group motivation and socialisation. Everyone is welcome, regardless of your ability or fitness level.
    We also have an established Walking Group departing from Unley Physiotherapy located at 160 Unley Rd, Unley.

  • Outdoor Group Fitness Session for Parents | Tuesdays
    Outdoor Group Fitness Session for Parents (kids welcome!)

    When: Tuesdays, 9.15-10am
    Where: Unley Oval (meet at the shelter, off Langham Terrace) 
    Activity details: Outdoor group fitness session with Sarah Kuss of Fitness Boutique by Sarah (located on Unley Road). Pre-schoolers are welcome.  Bring a mat and drink bottle, snacks and hats for the kids. Profits raised go to Unley Primary School to improve outdoor play spaces. These sessions will go for 9 weeks until the last Tuesday of Term 4.

  • Be Yoga at the Park | During School Terms
    Be Yoga at the Park

    When: Thursday mornings  9.30-10.30am during school terms (Term 1:  1 February - 13 April 2018) 

    Where: Heywood Park, Unley Park (western side, in from the carpark)

    Activity details: Under a beautiful gum tree and the filtered sun, enjoy 1 hour of Gentle Flow Outdoor Yoga Class. Gentle movement and stretching to release your body. Bring a mat if you have one, children welcome to play close by.

  • Pilates in the Park | Saturdays
    Pilates in the Park

    When: Saturdays, 8:30 - 9:15am (3 Febrary - 24 March 2018)

    Where: Howard Florey Reserve, Corner Fullarton Road and Campbell Road, Parkside

    Activity details: Come along and enjoy Pilates with experienced instructors who will lead the sessions and tailor it to meet your needs, regardless of your experience. Age 16+ years. Please bring your own mat and water.

    Morning Yoga at Orphanage Park

    When: Sundays, 8 - 9am (1 February - 1 April)

    Where: Orphanage Park, Mitchell Street, Millswood

    Activity details: Get up and active on Sunday mornings with free yoga sessions.  The instructor Raj Pandey is a registered and certified yoga teacher with over 27 years’ experience.  All welcome. Please bring your own mat and water bottle.

21 Things to do in Unley

Need some inspiration? Here’s a list of 21 things to do in the City of Unley.


See what’s growing in the edible orchards at Morrie Harrell Reserve, Ramage Street, Unley, and Fullarton Park, Fisher Street, Fullarton. 

Slide, jump, roll and play on lots of fun equipment at the Katherine Street playground, Fullarton. Rocks, logs, sensory planting, and a sandpit provide an area where the kids can interact with nature.

Ride the mini trains at SASMEE Park, Millswood Crescent, Millswood, operating on the 1st Saturday and 3rd Sunday of every month.

Let’s go fly a kite! The open space areas at Ridge Park or Orphanage Park are perfect locations.

Pick up some fresh produce from the Adelaide Showgrounds Farmers Market, held every Sunday on Leader Street, Goodwood.

Enjoy the change of seasons by sitting on a bench at Heywood Park and watching the world go by. Can you hear the kookaburras?

Ride the Mike Turtur Bikeway from the Black Forest to the Wayville Showgrounds.

Packed full of play equipment, the Princess Margaret Playground at Black Forest is a hidden gem. The kids will love it, trust us!

Unley Road offers 1.5km’s of shopping activity. Why not start at one end in the morning, have lunch and then wander back down the other side in the afternoon.

Check out our new Book Nooks! They are little boxes full of books for you to borrow, read, replace and enjoy. There are 4 nooks located around the Council area: Leicester Street Playground, Parkside; Fern Avenue Reserve, Fullarton; Heywood Park, Unley Park and at Clarence Park Community Centre.

We now have two outdoor ping pong tables! Check them out at the Unley Civic Centre, Oxford Terrace, Unley, and Fullarton Park Community Centre, Fullarton Road, Fullarton.

Walk the Discover Historic Unley trail and pop in at the Unley Museum, 80 Edmund Avenue, Unley, to discover more about your neighbourhood.

See what you can find at Ridge Park, Myrtle Bank. Do you know how much water the dam can hold? Can you find the 250 year old ‘Eucalyptus microcarpa’ tree, or the giant lizards at the playground? 

Visit one of Australia’s oldest hockey clubs, Forestville Hockey Club at Goodwood Oval.

Man’s best friend needs some exercise too! Take your dog to one of our great parks. More details regarding off-leash times can be found on our Dog Exercise Area page.  

Search for a good book at Unley Library and enjoy it at the Village Green, Rugby Street, Unley.

The City of Unley has so many places for kids to explore. Orphanage Park is one great example, where you can build a cubby house, catch tadpoles and make some mud pies!

Try out one of the many activities, workshops and programs held across our diverse Community Centres.

Walk Windsor Street trail from Fern Avenue Reserve to Unley Road and observe the native plants along the way.

Climb the stairs of grandstand at Goodwood Oval and enjoy the view.

Open the lid to discover what’s inside the ‘Toy Boxes’, at Ridge Park, Village Green, Soutar Park and Forestville Reserve.

  • Council can provide a limited amount of funding and promotional support to enable you to host an activity (or activities) and promote your organisation
