Council COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update – current 5pm March 19

The City of Unley is committed to the safety and peace of mind of both our community and staff in these unprecedented times.  We are actively monitoring and following advice from the Australian Federal and South Australian governments on the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and regularly reviewing business continuity and service delivery requirements.  The situation is constantly evolving, which means we will continue to assess our decisions over time.

Effective close of business Friday 20 March 2020 the following changes to service delivery will take effect:
  • Unley and Goodwood Libraries closed. Library return chutes will be open to allow the return of items without entering the building
  • Unley Museum closed
  • Unley Swim Centre closed
  • Unley Community Centre closed
  • Fullarton Park Community Centre closed
  • Community Bus Service discontinued for the foreseeable future
  • Town Hall Hire – no new bookings will be taken for the Town Hall

Please note, the Management Committee of the Goodwood Community Centre has determined that the Centre will be closed from 20/03/2020 – 01/05/2020. Clarence Park Community Centre will be closed from 12 pm, Friday 20 March 2020, with Childcare services and Board run programs currently being considered by the Clarence Park Community Centre Board.

We understand these changes to service delivery will significantly impact our community, and we are in the process of investigating alternative delivery options for some services.  In the interests of health and safety, and with a focus on minimising the spread, we feel that these are the most appropriate decisions at this time.

We are implementing additional social distancing practices in council facilities that remain open, such as visible guidance at our fixed customer service points (lines marked on floors and associated signage).  In support of the health and safety of our staff providing direct customer service we are issuing them with gloves and hand sanitiser.  Wherever possible, we encourage you to interact with Council via telephone and our website.  Payments and requests can be submitted via our online payment portal.

We continue to monitor information being issued in relation to COVID-19.  The best sources of information are the SA Health website and the Australian Government Department of Health website.

We would like to remind all members of our community to be mindful of the information and guidance being provided by SA Health and ask that you avoid visiting public Council facilities if you feel unwell.  We will continue to provide updates, guidance and support to our community via our website and our social media channels.

Thank you all for your understanding and we apologise for the disruption these changes may cause.
