International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global initiative launched in 1911 to celebrate women’s achievements, advance gender equality and challenge discrimination. On Sunday 8 March, communities around the world honour the impacts that women make in their workplaces, families and neighbourhoods.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, highlights the extraordinary outcomes that happen when women are provided with opportunities, platforms, and resources. When women are uplifted, entire communities benefit.

Celebrating our Community’s Changemakers

From Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March, we invite you to follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn as we share stories recognising our outstanding women that exemplify how they Give their time, mentorship, resources, platforms, and collaboration to Gain exceptional outcomes throughout our community.

You'll get an inside look at the women who brought us Zaks in the Outback. You’ll hear about the perfect pairing between a woman with a legal background, and a woman in STEM making strides in environmental advocacy. You'll discover the duo that facilitates a program at Clarence Park Community Centre that has thrived for over 2 decades and has drawn participants from over 20km outside of Unley. Our stories are as unique as they are impactful.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Follow along on LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Share, comment, and repost the stories to help celebrate their achievements
  • Add your voice by leaving a message of encouragement or appreciation

Your engagement helps amplify their incredible work and contributes to building a connected, progressive, and resilient City of Unley.
