LATM Zone 5: Fullarton / Myrtle Bank

During the 2025/26 financial year, the City of Unley completed a detailed design for traffic calming measures on Florence Street to achieve safer vehicle speeds.

The proposal includes the installation of:

• four Watts profile speed humps;
• a widened landscaped pedestrian refuge at the Glen Osmond Road junction; and
• upgraded street lighting.

These measures are intended to reduce vehicle speeds to improve safety and liveability of the street, as observations show that vehicles are travelling above the posted 40 km/h speed limit, with the 85th percentile speed recorded at 48 km/h. The proposed works will not result in the loss of any on-street parking.

Funding has been allocated in the 2026/27 Annual Business Plan and Budget to deliver the project. The detailed design can be viewed here(PDF, 4MB).

During the 2025/26 financial year, the City of Unley completed a detailed design with intersection improvements for the intersection of Wooltana and Glenrowan Avenues with Ferguson Avenue to improve sight lines and safety.

The proposed design includes increased parking clearance near the intersection to improve visibility, with new line marking through the centre of the intersection to better define vehicle movements. The proposal will result in the removal of four on-street parking spaces to improve sight lines and safety for all road users.

In response to community feedback, the design also includes new kerb ramps to improve north–south pedestrian access and safer crossings of Ferguson Avenue.

Funding has been allocated through the 2026/27 Annual Business Plan and Budget to progress the detailed designs of the following high-priority actions:

• Recommendation 3 – Wattle Street Wombat Crossing (Phase 1).

• Recommendation 5 – Upgrade of the Glen Osmond Primary School Koala Crossing on Fisher Street and Beaconsfield Street to a wombat crossing, including associated traffic calming measures.

• Recommendation 6 – Ferguson Avenue and Riverdale Road wombat crossing, including associated traffic calming measures.

Construction is planned in future years, subject to Council's Annual Business Plan and Budget process.
