Bigger rewards in 2026!

The City of Unley developed the Take the Pledge program in partnership with KESAB environmental solutions in 2015 to promote sustainable behaviour change, focusing on reducing household waste, and improving recycling practices.

The program now has more than 2,000 participating households in the City of Unley, committed to recycling more and diverting as much organic material as possible to the green bins. Over 700 households have been rewarded with a $25 prize voucher for putting the right things in the right bins and helping reduce waste to landfill.

In 2026, a new structure will see bigger rewards than ever before on offer!

  • Monthly $25 Mitre 10 (Barrow & Bench, Malvern) vouchers: From January 2026, every household who registers for the program, and displays the program stickers on their bins, will go into a monthly draw to win a $25 Mitre 10 (Barrow & Bench, Malvern) prize voucher. It’s an easy way to boost recycling visibility in the community, and maybe even get rewarded for it!
  • Quarterly $250 VISA gift card: Throughout the year, KESAB staff will be conducting random kerbside bin checks at registered households who display the program sticker on their bins. Households sorting their waste correctly will be entered into a quarterly draw for a $250 VISA gift card.

Now, with the bigger quarterly prizes on offer, there’s never been a better time to Take the Pledge!

Take the Pledge now

After registering, please allow up to 2 weeks for your bin stickers to arrive.

Households participating in the program:

  • Put more recyclable and compostable items in the right bins (instead of sending them to landfill)

  • Put less in their landfill bins

  • Have fewer wrong items mixed into their recycling

  • Put more of their food scraps into the organics bin

  • Have less overall waste each week compared to households not in the program.

Imagine what we can achieve when our whole community works together?
