The junior play space at Soutar Park Playground has reached the end of its useful life and is scheduled for asset renewal.
The upgrade will introduce soft landscaped elements, including gentle mounds and new planting, to enhance the character of the space. New paths will improve accessibility and create better connections between the play areas. Updated play equipment will continue to cater for younger children and toddlers, featuring new swings, slides, a toddler play tower, springer, spinner, mini hammock, and a new sand tower with a rotating sand desk.
Extended garden bed plantings around the perimeter will boost biodiversity and help frame the space. New seating and informal gathering spots will be added for both adults and children, and the existing fence and shade structures will be retained.
Note: Following the detailed design phase, the playground will remain fenced. This differs from the initial concept design, which proposed removing the fence. The updated approach reflects further technical assessment and aims to balance safety, accessibility, and community use of the space.
Renewal works are scheduled to begin in June 2026, with access to the playground limited during construction.
