Everard Park Regeneration DPA

The City of Unley is seeking your comments on proposed amendments to the Unley (City) Development Plan.

Council is considering a request for amendments to its Development Plan, in a process which has the potential to revise a specific zone and to reclassify it as a Residential Regeneration Policy Area.

The area in question is a site bordered by Norman Terrace, Fourth Avenue and Ross Street in the suburb of Everard Park.

This means the area under consideration may be re-zoned for development of newbuilt accommodation for aged care. The developer, Life Care, has provided input about the nature of any future redevelopment and funding for preparation of a Development Plan Amendment (DPA).

The City of Unley’s Planning Strategy is required to reflect and align with the State Government’s Planning Strategy, as outlined in The 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide.

Both plans seek to maintain and preserve the character of most neighbourhoods across Adelaide’s urban areas, while also encouraging and endorsing development for targeted growth in appropriate, strategic locations, chiefly along and around main roads and transport corridors.

The City of Unley has responsibility for the content of the Development Plan Amendment.

The Minister for Planning has responsibility for the approval of policy, as it is proposed or with amendments. The Minister may also choose to reject the DPA.

The DPA will be on consultation from 14 November 2019 until 16 January 2020.
