The play space at Leicester Street Playground is scheduled for an upgrade as part of Council's program to revitalise our community open spaces. The existing playground equipment, rubber soft fall, and park furniture are outdated and in need of asset renewal. We are pleased to share the concept design for the upgraded Leicester Street Playground.
The proposed upgrade includes improved access into the park with new park signage, upgraded entry points from both Leicester Street and the Glen Osmond Creek Linear Trail and a new path connecting both entries, improving accessibility across the park. The playground will include new play equipment designed to suit a range of age groups and abilities, while a proposed garden maze will further enhance nature-based play experiences, offering opportunities for sensory exploration.
The concept also includes extended garden bed plantings around the perimeter of the site to boost biodiversity and frame the space, new seating and picnic settings positioned to make use of shade trees, and more diverse opportunities for play with the installation of a table tennis table and mini soccer goals in the open lawn area. The existing shade sail will be retained and renewed, while the park remains a fully fenced recreation space where dogs must remain on leash at all times due to the shared use of space with the playground.
Additional feedback and queries are welcome through our contact details and will be considered as part of the final design development with the upgrade works scheduled to occur in 2026.
