Life Skills for Young People - Preliminary First Aid

Gain basic knowledge and skills necessary to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies using basic life-support measures.

The specific topics covered by the course include:

  • First Aid principles and priorities
  • Recognition of injury or illness
  • Recognition and management of an unconscious person
  • Principles of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Recognition and management of a victim of choking, asthma or epilepsy
  • Shock, control of bleeding, care of wounds, pressure bandaging
  • Burns and scalds
  • Soft tissue injuries and fractures
  • Poisons, bites and stings

On successful completion of this practical workshop, students will be issued with a non – accredited Certificate of Participation for your resume/CV. Facilitated by the Australian Red Cross.

Special requirements: BYO water bottle. Some snacks provided.

For Ages 12 - 25 years.
