Your health is in your mouth!
Learn how dental caries can act as an early warning sign of broader metabolic health issues, linking oral health to overall wellbeing.
Frequent consumption of highly refined, ultra-processed carbohydrates is a key root cause of poor dental and metabolic health.
Effective prevention focuses on dietary change and practical strategies to support sustainable health behaviours, rather than traditional approaches alone.
Presenter Dr Sarah Hancock:
Public health researcher, educator, and health coach with a PhD in public health nutrition from Auckland University of Technology. Dr Hancock is currently an analyst at the University of Adelaide and an advocate for reducing ultra-processed foods, combining research with practical health coaching to drive behaviour change.
Dr Hancock's research focuses on the relationship between diet, dental caries, and metabolic health, especially in children, including barriers to implementing healthy dietary practices.
