We’re celebrating the upcoming SA Youth Week with our very first Unley Youth Art Showcase: an opportunity for young people aged 12-25 yrs to express their artistic talents and compete to win prizes sponsored by Carclew.
This initiative is designed to give creative young people a voice and representation within our community. From the talented young artists who submit their work, to the involvement of youth representatives in key roles, the showcase ensures young perspectives are included at every level.
This year, 16‑year‑old Living Young Reference Group member Tildy Ruchs joins our judging panel, bringing fresh insight and lived experience to the selection process."Being able to have our voices shared is something that I think is really special, and something that I really value about our city," she said.
We’re also thrilled to welcome 26‑year‑old Brooke Ferguson as Curator of the exhibition.
Brooke shared her enthusiasm for opening night, noting that programs like this “help [young people] stay encouraged and motivated to work on their passions.” Her words speak to the heart of why programs like this are important: to inspire, uplift, and create meaningful opportunities for emerging young creatives.
