Beer and brewing has an incredible history, with evidence that ancient civilisations, including the Egyptians, were adept at fermentation.

At the recent launch of 'Brews and Bars', guests learned that beer is the popular drink in the world, and gained insights into a history of beer in Unley (which once boasted 7 breweries) and across our state. The engaging, informative display covers times of temperance to home brewing, from small independent makers to the big business beer is today.

With interactive elements, the exhibition is an educational tour through the history of the amber ale, how it's shaped our social life and our ongoing romance with it.

Attendees of all ages sampled the range of fine ales by Goodwood-based company Suburban Brew at the popular opening event, which was officially opened by Museum Curator Karen Paris and Deputy Mayor Monica Broniecki.

The Brews & Bars exhibition is free and is open to the public until October.

You'll find Unley Museum at 80 Edmund Avenue Unley.
