Council to manage Goodwood Community Centre
Published on 31 March 2023
Council thanks Goodwood Community Services Incorporated, a private operator involved in running the Centre since 2000. Its lease ends on 30 June 2023, after which Council will manage the Centre.
Council will maintain current staffing and opening hours ahead of exploring options for additional services and community use of the Centre.
Council is contacting all groups that use the Goodwood Community Centre to advise them that existing hiring and fee arrangements will remain in place for at least 12 months.
Council strongly acknowledges the contribution of Goodwood Community Services and looks forward to supporting Goodwood Community Services in its other roles, including the Goodwood Toy Library and its own programs that it runs from the Goodwood Community Centre, which it will be encouraged to expand.
Community offerings at the Goodwood Community Centre will be maximised because Council staff can support and facilitate volunteers and leverage contractors, promotional opportunities, knowledge and resources from across Council’s Community Centres team. It affords direct access to Council activities, programs, systems and support for enhanced community benefit.
Council’s decision follows an unsuccessful call for tenders to manage the Goodwood Community Centre, and a separate and unsuccessful expression of interest process to identify a management solution that met community need. Neither process was able to attract a suitable proposal.
The call for tenders and expression of interest were informed and guided by extensive community consultation and engagement in 2021 to assess community and user satisfaction with Goodwood Community Centre and identify areas of unmet need.
