Wednesdays 7-9pm 8-week course February 5, 12, 19 & 26; March 4, 18 & 25; April 1, 2020 (Note, no class on 11 March 2020) A parent education program to assist parents to understand their children's needs and how to support and strengthen a secure child-parent relationship. At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what their child might need or how to respond to behaviours that feel difficult. The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure child-parent relationships can be supported and strengthened. It is designed to help parents of young children recognise and respond to their children’s needs in such a way as to help children feel secure in this primary relationship. It also looks at the parent’s own experience of being parented and how this influences the way they parent. The many benefits for children who feel secure in their relationships with their parents have been found to include higher self esteem, fewer behaviour problems, better relationships with their family and peers and the ability to regulate their own emotions. Facilitated by Paula Bonney, Clinical Psychologist and registered Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) Educator. Cost: free. Bookings essential as places are limited. For information and registrations, please email Paula Bonney.
