Walking SA is the State’s peak body which advocates for improved walking conditions for recreation, health, and active transport. Over the past year, Council has sought the organisation’s input into the design of the City of Unley Walking & Cycling Plan, as well as individual projects aligned to it.

As with other organisations which assist us, including Bike Adelaide and Unley Bicycle Users’ Group, they provide a reference for our initiatives, and we value their advice.

Wilberforce Walk typifies the opportunities for change across Unley, requiring creativity and political will to unlock the opportunity, as well as collaboration to maximise the outcomes for all.

The refurbished thoroughfare offers improved walking and cycling, realising a ‘once in a generation’ connection through to Anzac Highway, as well as providing improved stormwater management, expanded tree canopy, increased biodiversity, and enhanced neighbourhood character.

The works were made possible with assistance from the State Government's Open Space Grant Program and creek works co-funded by the Brown Hill and Keswick Creeks Stormwater Board. We look forward to developing future stages in collaboration with our project partners to expand connectivity for our community.
