What should I expect on the day(s) of construction?

While we try to minimise the impact to residents, unfortunately some inconvenience may occur such as:

  • Part or all of the road and/or footpaths may have to be closed during construction,
  • Access to driveways may be limited or restricted completely,
  • Construction work can be noisy with trucks, horns, cutting, and beeping
  • Generally works start as early as 7am particularly during summer

When construction works are occurring your street is a work site and everyone's safety is important so please take care and listen to construction crews as they are approachable and willing to help if you need. Alternatively, please call the contact Council if you have any concerns.

FAQs

Bin collection is planned for that day, should I still leave it out?

Please ensure bins are placed out by 6am on the normal day of collection, Council works with our contractors to coordinate waste collection around construction works, however sometimes bins may be missed. If we have missed collecting your bin our waste collection contractor will let us know, so please leave your bin out and we will endeavour to pick it up the following day. If this still doesn’t happen please phone Council on 8372 5111.

Where should I park my car overnight?

On the day of the works when we are resurfacing a road there will be no on street parking and access to/from your driveway will be closed for longer periods of time. Our contractor will provide a letter detailing the exact timing and requirements for the day, but typically park as you would usually however please relocate your car to a side street before 7am if you need it during the day.

When we are reconstructing footpaths and need to close your crossover we'll work with you to ensure you have temporary rubble access in the morning and evening and discuss specifics of how we can cater to your access requirements.

When can I drive on the road?

When doing kerb or road resurfacing works once the contractors have left the site for the day, the road will generally be open to the public again. When we are undertaking drainage works however there may be sections completely closed for longer periods due to the depth of excavation. During this time there may be detours in place, so sit back and enjoy the quietness of no traffic in the interim.

Can emergency vehicles still access my property?

Yes, during the works our contractor makes sure that emergency vehicles can still access the site, both for your benefit and theirs.
