The successful ABC series showed how two quite different age groups have much more in common than they realise. Intergenerational programs have a positive influence on people’s mental and physical health and enrich the quality of personal connections and relationships.
Unley’s own intergenerational program ‘GRANDFriends’ starts soon and will run over five sessions for about two hours per fortnight. Each session centres around a different activity such as cooking, recreation and sport, art, and dancing. The focus of the program is on older adults aged 65+ years and teenagers in Grades 7 and 8, and is all about having fun, learning new skills, and building friendships.
GRANDFriends will commence at 4.30pm on Wednesday 20th September 2023 with a shared dinner at Unley Oval to launch the program and enable participants to get to know each other.
