Vice Consul Jin had seen evidence of our Council’s active ageing programs, and the services and activities we offer our senior residents. South Korea’s issues with ageing populations are similar to Australia’s, and the ambassador’s aim was to learn what we were doing here in Unley that could be shared with local government bodies in her country.

Ms. Jin visited Adelaide to interview our CEO, Peter Tsokas, who spoke about Unley Council's vision and strategies for supporting older citizens, what we have put in place thus far, and some of the innovative programs – notably in business entrepreneurship and co-housing – which are being explored in collaboration with local universities.

A participant in Unley’s StartUp@AnyAge program, Ms. Paramita Roy, was also interviewed for the video, created by producer Mr. Sejun Hwang.

The six-minute video takes a light-heated approach to serious issues of health, housing, and care of older people. Narration is in Korean, with no subtitles, but they’re not really needed - you will understand all its messages without them.

The short film emphasises that our Council’s focus on being an age-friendly city is being noticed internationally. We hope this presents opportunities for further development of relationships with other nations, to share ideas that support active ageing programs and services for our older populations.

Take the time to enjoy this fun short video.
