Highgate Village Streetscape Upgrade

Our Business Precincts are the vibrant gems at the heart of our city, providing unique opportunities for economic development, community connection, and local identity. The Highgate Village Business Precinct, located along Fullarton Road, is set for an asset renewal to enhance its vibrancy and ensure it remains future-ready, with the first stage beginning in May 2025.

The upgrade will feature new paving, kerbing, and street furniture, along with new garden beds, additional shade trees, and enhanced pedestrian access across side streets with paved road entries.

The extent of work on Fullarton Road will include;

West side footpaths from the entry to Fullarton Community Centre carpark to the bus stop south of Invergowie Street.
East side footpaths from the northern shopfronts (opposite Carlton Street) to the shopfronts to the south opposite Invergowie Street. It will also include the footpath adjacent to the bus stop opposite Cheltenham Street (east side), and
Entries into side streets at Cheltenham, Carlton and Invergowie Street and Ferguson Avenue will be included.

Stage One works will be the central area around the intersection of Fullarton Road and Ferguson Avenue.

The concept plan provides an overview of the improvements including the new street furniture suite and character of the new planting. As the upgrade work progresses on-site, please note that some aspects may be subject to refinement to address site constraints and technical requirement during the construction process.
