Planning an event

Our City has community spirit, quality lifestyle choices, cultural diversity and innovative leadership. Our community residents are energetic and involved participants in a range of social and recreational activities.

Event application process

Step 1.Read the event planning toolkit

Event Planning Toolkit(PDF, 725KB)

  • Determine if you require an Event Permit according to the guideline (Page 5).

  • Read through the A-Z Planning Guide (Page 12) for tips and tricks on how to plan a safe and successful event.

  • Also, make sure that you understand the Event Permit Terms and Conditions(PDF, 103KB)

Step 2.Select where can you hold your event

The City of Unley’s parks and open spaces provide a wonderful setting to host your event. Many of our parks have a range of features including toilets, play equipment, sport and fitness facilities, BBQ’s, picnic tables and shelters. Some parks and open spaces are able to support medium to large-scale event activity whereas other small parks are more suited for casual, public use.

Step 3.Download and complete

Complete the Event Permit Application(PDF, 626KB) to apply to conduct an event in a park, open space or street within the City of Unley. Applications are not required for events held in parks that have an expected attendance of less than 100 people. However, events held on Council property or roads must complete the application process regardless of the expected attendance.

Council also has a Community Event Sponsorship Program which provides financial support for events, performances and festivals. We encourage and support community groups to hold their own events within the City of Unley, helping to grow the diverse range of events on offer to our residents and visitors.
