Esmeralda's Nest by Robert Moore and Mandy Foot

Esmeralda's Nest

by Robert Moore and Mandy Foot

Each day Esmeralda collects a variety of objects and waddles down the hill. Everyone wonders why the Saddleback sow is carrying a bottle, fencing wire and a pair of trousers in her mouth. Only Esmeralda knows. Nothing will stop her.

We have a craft to go with this book.

Piglet craft

Piglet craft

For this craft you will need:

  • Pink card
  • Two pegs
  • Pink pipecleaner or chenille stick
  • Googly eyes or something else to make eyes
  • Glue and sticky tape
  • Scissors
  • Textas or other colouring-in tools

Directions:

  • Cut out two circles from the paper – a larger one for the body, and a smaller one for the head. Cut out two triangle shapes for piggy’s ears.
  • Colour in the pegs with pink texta (or any colour you like!)
  • Stick the head, body and ears together with glue or tape, and attach the pegs for legs.
  • Curl the pipe cleaner around a pencil for a curly pig tail, and secure to the body.
  • Glue the googly eyes on, or draw your own little pig face (don’t forget the piggy snout!)
